Do You Get Up In The Morning Without Sleeping
Posted in articles on 11/30/2012 08:43 pm by adminYou might think that sleeping is the most natural thing in the world, but for many people it's far from easy. Quite a few people are walking around and going to work suffering from a perpetual sleep deficit. Another response is to take various medications, or possibly alcohol to help you sleep -which can have serious side effects even if it works. You'll be glad to know that it's not necessary to just accept insomnia as something you have to struggle with. There are steps you can take and things that you can do to increase your chances of falling and staying asleep each night. The techniques outlined below can be very effective for promoting sound sleep.
Well, the first and most obvious thing you should do is cut out all stimulants from your diet after late afternoon. This includes not only caffeine products, like coffee, tea and chocolate, but tobacco products as well. Caffeine might be great for helping you wake up in the morning but it can really work against you in the evenings when it is time to go to bed. Some people impose a "cut off time" after which they deny themselves caffeine and stick to water or herbal beverages like tea. Your body will need some time to eliminate any stimulants you have consumed, so give yourself enough space before bedtime to allow this to happen. Before going to bed, it can help to eat a small amount of something. You may have noticed that eating certain kinds of foods makes you sleepy, and this is what you're looking for now. Warm milk, nuts and turkey are examples of these foods. So you could warm up a little milk and drink it with a little bit of turkey before bed; the turkey, with nothing like ketchup, mustard, etc. on it, has tryptophan, the ingredient that causes you to feel drowsy. That's one reason people often feel sleepy after eating turkey at Thanksgiving.
The third thing you can do when the sandman just won't visit, is to get up! One of the most frustrating feelings in the world is that of tossing and turning as you try to fall asleep at night. Tossing and turning for hours will only stress you out and make you even less likely to be able to fall asleep. Don't stick it out longer than 1/2 an hour or so. After that amount of time, if you're still awake, get out of bed for a change of pace. Sometimes getting back up for a few minutes and doing something simple like reading in a lowly lit room or crafts or even just sitting up and awake can be all that you need to start to feel tired enough to go to bed. There are an awful lot of things you can do to ensure that you get a good night's sleep. You can often conquer insomnia without any great expenses or complex procedures. Anything that relaxes you, physically and mentally, will help you to sleep better. If, however, you have tried home remedies for a long time and still aren't having any luck, it is time to talk to your doctor. One way or another, you'll find a way to get regular and restful sleep again!
